NEW TUNE: “Medusa” by Grace Savage

artworks-000215025223-7xgpqg-t500x500With support from BBC Introducing and BBC R1’s Huw Stephens for her first, ultimately unreleased EP ‘Diamonds on your Skin’ in 2015, Grace has since been working independently in the studio and writing new music. Fast-forward to 2017 and the young UK artist has been working closely with Oddchild producer Jason Julian, matching her ethereal tone to dark electronic synths and glassy, early dubstep rhythms. ‘Medusa’ is the first release from her upcoming EP ‘Savage Grace’.

Screen Shot 2017-03-29 at 15.49.52The young star isn’t short of accolades even at this early stage in her career: Listed as one of ELLE’s ‘100 Most Inspiring Women’ and recently headlining the tastemaker Roundhouse Rising, Grace also performed at the inaugural SBTV RISE, hosted by Julie Andenuga as well as performing alongside MOBO winner Nadia Rose at the British House in Brazil for the Rio Olympics 2016. With such a diverse set of fans and touchpoints, Grace now moves into 2017 to define herself in her own right. ‘Medusa’ winds in dark, metallic electro-pop circles, conjuring a sense of Katy B’s street realness tempered by a silky, dark and seductive vocal. Speaking on the track, Grace states:
‘Medusa’ is about the breakdown of a working relationship between artist and producer – how their creative partnership, seemingly full of trust, turned sour. Having invested years of work into a project that never came to fruition, writing “Medusa” was literally the first step in my journey alone as a songwriter and establishing myself as my own artist.”
